Michigan Conference Appoints Mark Howard as Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Director
The Michigan Conference is pleased to announce the election of Elder Mark Howard as Director of the Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Department (SSPM), following a vote by the Michigan Conference Executive Committee. Pastor Howard succeeds Kameron DeVasher, who recently accepted a call to serve in the Pennsylvania Conference.
Pastor Howard has most recently served as Associate Director of SSPM, where he has worked alongside churches across Michigan to strengthen discipleship, evangelism, and local church outreach. He also serves as Director of the Emmanuel Institute of Evangelism, a ministry dedicated to training lay members and pastors in practical, field-based soul-winning ministry.
An ordained Seventh-day Adventist minister, Howard has served in pastoral ministry and evangelism for more than two decades. Since joining the Michigan Conference in 2003, he has ministered in a variety of pastoral and evangelistic roles. Throughout his ministry, he has become widely known for his passion for evangelism, biblical teaching, understanding of the Spirit of Prophecy, and equipping church members for active involvement in mission.
In addition to his local ministry work, Howard is recognized internationally through speaking engagements, evangelistic training events, and media ministries. His messages frequently emphasize revival, practical Christianity, character development, and the distinctive biblical teachings of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Conference President Jim Micheff expressed appreciation for Elder Howard’s years of faithful ministry and confidence in his leadership moving forward.
“We are so blessed to have Mark in our Conference. God has used him in tremendous ways, and we are excited to see what God has in store for Sabbath School and Personal Ministries under his leadership.”
Howard also shared his gratitude for the opportunity to continue serving the Michigan Conference in this new capacity.
“It has been a special privilege for me and my family to serve in this conference these many years. I have appreciated the faithful leadership and been blessed by the fellowship of my colleagues and the wonderful people of Michigan. I’m looking forward to the great things the Lord will yet accomplish through us all working together!”
Pastor Howard serves alongside his wife, Stephanie, with whom he has shared more than thirty years of marriage and ministry. Together, they are the parents of two adult children, Caleb and Anneliese.
The Michigan Conference expresses its gratitude to Pastor Kameron DeVasher for his faithful leadership in the department and wishes God’s blessing on his continued ministry in Pennsylvania.
Please join us in praying for Elder Howard and his family as he begins this new chapter of ministry leadership.
