The Holt Seventh-day Adventist Church was happy to welcome Trystan Oversmith to its membership by his decision to be baptized on Sabbath, August 2, 2025! This is the first baptism the Holt church has had in its newly completed sanctuary, and many were there to witness this wonderful occasion, members and family alike.
Seventeen-year-old Trystan has been attending the Holt church since he was in cradle roll. His grandmother, Dawn Tyler, who raised Trystan, is the one he credits as having the most significant influence on his life. He was consistently led by her unfailing faith in God despite her many medical challenges. Along with Gramma, Trystan has also appreciated his SS teacher, Matt Carter, who spent many hours in personal Bible studies with him. Trystan also loves music and has, on many occasions, shared his wonderful tenor voice in song with his church family. Trystan shares that his favorite Bible verses are John 3:16 and Revelation 1:17.
Trystan has also been influenced in his spiritual and educational growth through the online schooling known as Aspire Adventist Academy. He has attended this program for four years and is currently in his senior year. When asked about his future plans, Trystan shared that he is interested in continuing his education by seeking out a trade school that offers a program in electrical engineering.
When asked about his advice for other seekers of God, Trystan said simply, “Pray everyday!”
