Faith, Fellowship, and Spiritual Renewal at Camp Sagola Women’s Retreat

Nearly 50 women gathered at Camp Sagola on September 25-27 in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula for a Spirit-filled weekend of worship, prayer, fellowship, and spiritual encouragement. Women of all ages, from teenagers and young adults to longtime retreat attendees, came together to strengthen their relationships with God and one another.

Throughout the weekend, the atmosphere was filled with heartfelt prayer, uplifting music, laughter, and meaningful conversations. The gathering provided an opportunity for women to step away from their daily responsibilities, reconnect with friends, build new relationships, and find encouragement through shared faith. The fellowship across generations was especially meaningful, as women from different walks of life united in worship and a common desire to grow closer to Christ.

Guest speaker Judy Ramos encouraged attendees through messages centered on practical Christianity and living out their faith in everyday life. With God-given confidence, relatable illustrations, and delightful humor, Ramos shared spiritual insights that resonated with women of all ages. Her presentations offered both encouragement and practical reminders of how God’s presence can guide and strengthen believers through life’s challenges.

One of the most memorable moments of the retreat came during a spontaneous time of heartfelt prayer. As women joined together in lifting their praises and concerns to God, the gathering became a powerful expression of unity and faith. The prayer time concluded with the singing of “Amazing Grace,” creating a particularly moving moment that reflected the spirit of the weekend.

The retreat also provided an opportunity to extend Christ’s love beyond the campground. Sabbath outreach activities brought meaningful connections with members of the surrounding community, including several non-Adventist guests. These interactions created opportunities for fellowship and spiritual encouragement, with some guests already expressing their excitement about returning for next year’s gathering.

As attendance continues to grow, organizers are encouraged by the increasing interest in women’s ministry throughout the Upper Peninsula. The retreat demonstrated the importance of creating spaces where women can connect across generations, support one another in their spiritual journeys, and invite others to experience Christian fellowship.

“We celebrate God’s abundant blessings and eagerly look forward to seeing how He will lead us at next year’s retreat gathering,” shared Jane Harris, Michigan Conference Women’s Ministries director.

The weekend at Camp Sagola was more than an opportunity to gather with friends. It was a reminder of the power of prayer, the beauty of Christian fellowship, and the ways God continues to work through women’s ministry. With grateful hearts, attendees and organizers look forward to another year of growing friendships, deepening faith, and sharing Christ’s love throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
