March 13, 2020 - Last night, Governor Whitmer, directed the closure of all K-12 schools, including public, private, and boarding schools in response to additional confirmed cases of COVID-19. The closures are in effect from March 16 to April 5.
The Michigan Conference seeks to comply with any state or federal directives that are not in conflict with biblical principles. As such, the preceding mandate by our governor should be considered in effect for our schools during this period.
In preparation, our schools had developed a plan that could be implemented that would facilitate distance learning should our schools close down. That plan has been activated. Teachers are also encouraged to plan for school closures that extend beyond April 5.
Also, please note that Spring Break for our schools has been extended for one week, and the distance learning initiative will begin March 30.
