New Associate Superintendent of Schools

Brian Kittleson graduated from Cedar Lake Academy and has served in Adventist Education since graduating from Union College in 1992 with a B.S. in Business Education and Physical Education. He was hired at Broadview Academy where he initally served as assistant boys dean and PE teacher. He eventually became the head boys dean and assistant principal. His wife Michelle was hired at Hinsdale Adventist Academy as the preschool director and enjoyed the one-hour daily commute with their growing family.

After nine years at Broadview they accepted a call to Auburn Adventist Academy where Brian was the vice principal and Michelle operated “Little Lambs,” the campus daycare center. After 4 years in the beautiful Northwest Brian accepted the call to be principal at Spencerville Adventist Academy in Spencerville Maryland.  Michelle joined the Spencerville team 2 years later as the Pk/K teacher and they both served there for the past 13 years.

Their three children, Devon, Brianna and Matthew all graduated from Spencerville. Devon is married and lives in Loma Linda, CA; Brianna is starting her senior year at Andrews University; and her little brother Matthew will join her at Andrews this fall.

Brian’s hobbies include backpacking, running, reading, and leadership development.  He is passionate about the ministry of Adventist Education and is looking forward to serving the Michigan Conference Office of Education.

In 2006 he completed a masters degree from Andrews University in educational administration and supervision. His leadership style is derived from studying the life of Christ and reading extensively on the topic of leadership from Christian authors. He would summarize his style in two words: servant leadership. When asked about returning  to the state in which he was born and raised he stated “I feel like I am coming home!”
